Sean Langman GM of Noakes takes Maluka to Fastnet in 2023

Maluka and the Remarkable Rolex Fastnet Race Journey I Led By Langman in FS

As we sail through the exhilarating Blue Ocean Pointscore Races, gearing up for the grand spectacle of the ROLEX Sydney to Hobart, let's take a moment to relive the thrilling journey of Maluka, the smallest and oldest boat in the fleet, during the legendary Rolex Fastnet Race.

Maluka embarked on the arduous journey from Cowes, Ireland, to Cherbourg, France, rounding the iconic Fastnet Rock for her first time!  The Rolex Fastnet Race of this year - a milestone 50th edition. This epic race saw 440 entrants, each vying for glory, pushing the limits of their skills, courage, and endurance.

As the smallest and oldest boat in the fleet, Maluka's presence was nothing short of extraordinary. With a course fraught with challenges and unpredictable conditions, the odds were stacked against them. But with Sean Langman at the helm and a crew of legendary sailors, including Pete Langman, Josh Alexander, Gordon Maguire, and Peter Inchbold, Maluka was ready to defy expectations.

The Rolex Fastnet Race is not for the faint of heart. This year, a staggering 40% of the boats had to drop out, unable to conquer the demanding waters and fierce competition. But Maluka, guided by a spirit of unwavering determination, sailed on.

Sean Langman, the Managing Director of Noakes Group and the sponsor of the Noakes Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race, led this intrepid crew to Cherbourg, Normandy. Their journey around the Fastnet Rock was a testament to the indomitable human spirit and the sheer thrill of adventure.

What an achievement!! We vicariously lived through all of your feet hugged by our pink dry socks!! Thank you for sharing your adventure with us.

We look forward to seeing what's next for Maluka, MoneyPenny, Noakes, Langman, and his legendary sailing companions!
